day #365 - the end of an era

I thought I was on top of it; I had finished early and was looking for a movie to watch already 3 hours ago. And I don't know how time went by. A phonecall, some networking studying, some online shopping and here we are, already past the time for an early movie. Regardless, today is a special day. The blog is over! I finished 365 days of daily painting and recording it, whatever that means. A big part of the process I will have to keep doing mainly for myself. Perhaps taking daily photos of my work and saving it on some folder. This has provem useful many times when I trying to date a piece I've been working on. Also making a small diary of today's achievements. It's still useful. But this will be done for my eyes only. I also don't know if I will be continuing my obsessively daily painting. How would life be if I had days off? Now for example that I'm moving out and I have to daily chores that until now were completely taken care of, perhaps I'll allow my

day #62 - More more practice

More practice. I was hoping I was going to start with posture practice for warming up and something more creative afterwards. But it wasn't meant to happen. At some point the neighbor's kid came over (probably my greatest fan!) and we sat and painted together; The combined result can be seen on the colorful interlude in the first sheet, probably the most eye-grabbing (and interesting) part of the four sheets. It's sad however when you hear 7 year-old kids saying that they don't have any imagination... Nonetheless, the kid's presence, and the extremely low expectations on his part, allowed me to be a bit more silly/imaginative than usual. A road/bridge on lava? Why not? Nobody is gonna ask whether the pillars can hold the weight without melting...

Anyway, I'm quite satisfied with today's practice; I did faces, figures and hands, that I've never put any effort into. I've even done some nice attempts at vehicles in perspective. Later on logged onto quickposes.com dand did some 30sec gesture drawings, then some 2min posture studies and finally some 30sec hand studies. The 2min postures studies are so much more dynamic and real and I find that I'd like to practice more box and cylinder construction!  Very satisfying the results.

These are quiet days. Thankfully, I'm not very worried that I'm constantly practicing - I can for a change appreciate that this is the time to improve this particular aspect a bit. I'd also like to study ways to analyze the hand (like the Loomis puppet method for posture).

Still, outside that all, I can feel inside me the craving to feed my creativity and start growing in that direction! Anyway, time for bed.
Anyway, despite the
