day #365 - the end of an era

I thought I was on top of it; I had finished early and was looking for a movie to watch already 3 hours ago. And I don't know how time went by. A phonecall, some networking studying, some online shopping and here we are, already past the time for an early movie. Regardless, today is a special day. The blog is over! I finished 365 days of daily painting and recording it, whatever that means. A big part of the process I will have to keep doing mainly for myself. Perhaps taking daily photos of my work and saving it on some folder. This has provem useful many times when I trying to date a piece I've been working on. Also making a small diary of today's achievements. It's still useful. But this will be done for my eyes only. I also don't know if I will be continuing my obsessively daily painting. How would life be if I had days off? Now for example that I'm moving out and I have to daily chores that until now were completely taken care of, perhaps I'll allow my

Finally! I've finished with the printings and all. In part it's been a big success: the printed watercolors look almost as good as the original ones. I got to try more paper-styles and kinds of artwork; it's very impressive seeing the amount of pieces I've done. On the other hand it's been a disappointment; cutting and printing the margins has been a dark art and the contrast-curve is not very good. I'll be trying to counter these issues next time, but I wonder if I'll be making things worse instead of better. In any case, not only did I manage to get all these things done today, I've also had the time to do some more daytime painting! And what is more,  I decided to take fate into my own hands, and not wait for the painting supplies to arrive by mail but instead went and bought new ones. This will allow me to work a bit more with pastels in the weeks to come which is good. Then again, watercolors and gouache haven't been all that bad so I should diversify more - this will allow me to go for walks a few of the days too!

So, what has been good about today's artwork? I resumed a piece that I had put aside for quite some days, I worked standing (which is a joy), I worked with natural light (which again is a joy and as I'm being reminded people in the north don't have) and I got the chance to shuffle though my printed work, see how pretty it looks and get surprised and above all inspired by it! I'm looking forward to finishing this piece, it feels as if it's going to be a piece focusing around local constrast. Time for bed, tomorrow is another day!
