day #365 - the end of an era

I thought I was on top of it; I had finished early and was looking for a movie to watch already 3 hours ago. And I don't know how time went by. A phonecall, some networking studying, some online shopping and here we are, already past the time for an early movie. Regardless, today is a special day. The blog is over! I finished 365 days of daily painting and recording it, whatever that means. A big part of the process I will have to keep doing mainly for myself. Perhaps taking daily photos of my work and saving it on some folder. This has provem useful many times when I trying to date a piece I've been working on. Also making a small diary of today's achievements. It's still useful. But this will be done for my eyes only. I also don't know if I will be continuing my obsessively daily painting. How would life be if I had days off? Now for example that I'm moving out and I have to daily chores that until now were completely taken care of, perhaps I'll allow my

Today's piece is decent; not sure it's the most "inspired" one, but it has lots going for it: For a start, it's a gouache piece, something that I haven't attempted in a long long time (in relative terms of course). This alone is a success since I have a tendency to avoid having to set stuff up (and mixing colors from the tube is such). The second success of the day is that I was running late and usually days as such I go for ipad doodles or notebook sketches - today though, I did a full-blown piece. That's the second good thing: Compared to the alternative of a sketch, this has been a real extravagance! I used a very limited harmonious palette and did some form explorations which I haven't done in a long time; so points for that too! The end result is also not too shabby! Finally, I did it live on discord, something that puts me in a very stressed mode, not the best conductive space for explorations, and handpainted pieces so I held m ground pretty well. Exposed myself, doing something I'm more vulnerable than doodling, and also experimented a bit with the round brush at the end. Time for rest!
