day #365 - the end of an era

I thought I was on top of it; I had finished early and was looking for a movie to watch already 3 hours ago. And I don't know how time went by. A phonecall, some networking studying, some online shopping and here we are, already past the time for an early movie. Regardless, today is a special day. The blog is over! I finished 365 days of daily painting and recording it, whatever that means. A big part of the process I will have to keep doing mainly for myself. Perhaps taking daily photos of my work and saving it on some folder. This has provem useful many times when I trying to date a piece I've been working on. Also making a small diary of today's achievements. It's still useful. But this will be done for my eyes only. I also don't know if I will be continuing my obsessively daily painting. How would life be if I had days off? Now for example that I'm moving out and I have to daily chores that until now were completely taken care of, perhaps I'll allow my

day #33 - Good trapping words

And here we are. Yesterday I was given a quite positive review of my work; getting good comments about aircrafts, spaceships and receding horizons and here I am today trying once again to play it safe. What can be done; It's been a difficult day, I needed the boost of confidence.

I did not come. I'm not very happy about most of the things in this artwork. Oh no, I'm being too critical. Let's see what I can find to my liking instead. I like the colors; The predominantly red colors were a slight deviation from what I usually do. Then again, I feel I'm stuck in my watercolor palette; I can't really move away from the colors that my kit provides - perhaps I need to do some studies where I use only two colors and try with these two colors to create variations. Anyway; I like a bit the metallic shine on the objects, and that would be all.

No, that's too little. How about digging a bit deeper! I like the little wheeled vehicles, I like the mountains in the backgorund a lot and the layering of colors in the red soil. I like the circle on the left wall and the attempt the make that complex landed spaceship at the center of the composition. It didn't turn out too good, but it was crazy complex and I think one day I'll get it right. I like the red reflections on the underbelly of that suspended "hammerhead-tie-fighter" and I like the doors and nuances on the wheeled vehicles. That's better.

As for the second sketch, I did it really quickly but I enjoyed a lot the shadowplay, the story in it and the faux-lettering on the right. I think there is something to it. I love inks!

Funny how good feedback, getting a job, having money or being productive can't plug the hole in the self-esteem barrel; not even for a day...

A now time to get to my bed and sooth myself to sleep.
