day #365 - the end of an era

I thought I was on top of it; I had finished early and was looking for a movie to watch already 3 hours ago. And I don't know how time went by. A phonecall, some networking studying, some online shopping and here we are, already past the time for an early movie. Regardless, today is a special day. The blog is over! I finished 365 days of daily painting and recording it, whatever that means. A big part of the process I will have to keep doing mainly for myself. Perhaps taking daily photos of my work and saving it on some folder. This has provem useful many times when I trying to date a piece I've been working on. Also making a small diary of today's achievements. It's still useful. But this will be done for my eyes only. I also don't know if I will be continuing my obsessively daily painting. How would life be if I had days off? Now for example that I'm moving out and I have to daily chores that until now were completely taken care of, perhaps I'll allow my

day #333 - Burgundry

Today I managed to (temporarily) put away two already finished pieces so I did start a new piece! I picked the deepest red piece of colorline paper that I had, and started a new painting. I've discovered that one of the most annoying things is having comments on the painting while you're still making it; I don't know if this is for everybody, but at least for me it's working in a very negative way. The most positive feedback creates a fear of hearing the subsequent "oh no, you ruined it" whereas any remark ("you should ....") set you up for a state of inner conflict: "I shouldn't listen - I should do the opposite" and "oh no, no I see it their way and feel compelled to comply". The soil feels poisoned. Cramps.
Anyway, if I skip back to before getting feedback for the artwork, I was very satisfied with it; it was one a difficult piece that was barely starting to take life/form by the time I put the pastels down for the day and still, I felt confident and safe that it was only a matter of time before it took life so I was enjoying it. I also got to use a very accented palette with lots of reds and therefore had the chance to practice how cool tones shift their hues in the process (gray becomes green surrounder by red). Overall a very educational piece, one that looks very elaborate and if it goes well it might be a favourite one. In other news today I finally managed to finish slightly earlier which is good for a change! Time for a movie! Hurrah!
